Leaving the garden in place — not cutting it back in the fall — left plenty of food for the birds. These flower heads were covered in goldfinches throughout October and November, as you can see from their picked-over state.
Now they’re buried in snow. It has been practically snowing non-stop all February, starting with nearly two feet on the first of the month. Fortunately, our bird feeders are keeping the feathered friends fed.
